Job Description
As a Platform Testing Engineer at HPE, you will validate networking switch platforms across functional, regression, and reliability testing phases. A major focus of this role is the design and execution of Power over Ethernet (PoE) test plans , including compliance with IEEE 802.3af/at/bt standards. You will handle complex scenarios involving power negotiation, budget allocation, and multi-port stress testing to ensure hardware stability under heavy loads.
You will also perform extensive Interface Testing across copper and fiber (ranging from 1G to 100G speeds). This includes validating link bring-up, FEC, MTU, VLAN, and LACP configurations while analyzing throughput and latency. To maintain efficiency, you will develop Python-based automation frameworks and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines. Collaborating with firmware and hardware teams, you will perform root-cause analysis on failures captured via logs and packet sniffers.
Key Responsibilities
Validate functional and interoperability performance of networking switch platforms.
Execute PoE compliance testing (IEEE 802.3af/at/bt) and power budget handling.
Perform interface validation including link flap recovery, auto-negotiation, and VLANs.
Develop and maintain Python-based automation frameworks for system testing.
Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.
Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) using packet captures and platform diagnostics.
Define test coverage for new hardware features in collaboration with firmware teams.
Generate detailed release quality metrics, defect summaries, and test reports.
Skills & Eligibility
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, CS, Telecommunications, or related.
Networking: Strong understanding of L2/L3 protocols, VLAN, LACP, and MTU.
PoE Knowledge: Familiarity with Power over Ethernet standards and behavior.
Automation: Proficiency in Python for building test automation suites.
Tools: Experience with traffic generators (Ixia/Spirent) and packet sniffers (Wireshark).
DevOps: Basic understanding of CI/CD integration and distributed computing.
Attributes: Proactive problem-solver with a “Security-First” mindset.
