Job Description
As a Software Engineer at Blackhawk Network, you will be an essential part of an engineering team building the next generation of fault-tolerant, highly available payment systems . You will write clean, reusable code and actively participate in all phases of the Agile software lifecycle—from initial design to production release. Your work will involve stretching the limits of backend technologies to ensure precision and security in transactions processed by millions of merchants worldwide.
You will collaborate closely with product architects and owners to translate business requirements into high-performance technical solutions. By leveraging AWS infrastructure and modern application stacks, you will contribute novel ideas to improve system efficiency and customer experience. This role encourages a proactive approach to code quality, automated failover capabilities, and continuous innovation in the fintech space.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop high-scale, precision-based payment network components.
Write clean, testable Java code that is easy to maintain and read.
Build products with automated failover and fault-tolerant capabilities.
Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including code reviews and stand-ups.
Collaborate with QA and Senior Developers on technical implementation details.
Troubleshoot customer problems and enhance features based on data-driven decisions.
Leverage cloud-native technologies (AWS) to optimize application performance.
Identify and suggest incremental improvements to testing and development workflows.
Skills & Eligibility
Education: Bachelor’s degree with a solid academic record in a technical major.
Programming: Strong experience and knowledge in Java technology .
Databases: Solid understanding of Relational Databases (SQL).
Tools: Familiarity with version control and debugging software.
Cloud (Preferred): Experience with AWS (EC2, RDS) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
DevOps (Preferred): Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and web server optimization.
Soft Skills: Proactive attitude, strong curiosity for emerging tech, and team-oriented mindset.
