As a Software Engineer Intern at Friday Media Group, you will get hands-on experience by directly assisting in the development and maintenance of robust web applications using PHP and the Symfony framework. You will bridge the gap between frontend and backend operations, working heavily with RESTful services and third-party API integrations.
You will collaborate closely with front-end developers and designers to create responsive, user-friendly interfaces, all while following strict coding best practices. This role demands strong problem-solving skills and a readiness to debug and troubleshoot issues across the full web stack.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development: Assist in developing and maintaining scalable web applications utilizing PHP and the Symfony framework.
API Management: Implement, manage, and seamlessly integrate third-party APIs into existing architectures.
Frontend Collaboration: Work alongside front-end teams and designers to build responsive interfaces using HTML, CSS, SASS, JavaScript, AJAX, and jQuery.
Version Control: Actively utilize Git and repositories such as Bitbucket for efficient source code management.
Debugging & Maintenance: Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues across the full web stack.
Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, while actively participating in peer code reviews.
Skills & Eligibility
Education: Must have successfully completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field.
Core Languages & Frameworks: Good understanding of PHP and practical experience with the Symfony framework.
Frontend Web Tech: Working knowledge of modern frontend languages including AJAX, HTML, CSS, SASS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
Architecture & APIs: Clear understanding of client-server architecture, RESTful web services, and hands-on experience with API integration.
Version Control: Familiarity with Git and Bitbucket.
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have): Familiarity with Composer (PHP dependency manager), Agile/Scrum methodologies, and an understanding of testing frameworks or unit tests.
Prior Experience: Previous internship or project experience in full-stack web development is considered a strong plus.
