As an Associate Design Engineer at the Eaton India Innovation Centre, you will be trained to perform several core product-lifecycle responsibilities:
New Product Development (NPD): Designing, updating, and modeling critical physical mechanical systems and components using Creo/SolidWorks as per Eaton’s design standards.
Sustaining Engineering: Analyzing, reviewing, and applying necessary changes to existing designs based on client feedback, manufacturing feedback, and operational performance requirements.
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS): Using quality tools like Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) concepts, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Risk Management, and DVPR (Design Verification Plan and Report).
Prototyping & Testing: Participating in building physical prototypes, coordinating product verification testing, evaluating teardowns, and analyzing components post-test to verify performance limits.
Manufacturing Integration: Developing an understanding of casting, molding, machining, and sheet-metal fabrication processes to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM).
Mechanical Fundamentals: Clear, conceptual grasp of foundational mechanical engineering principles, mechanics of materials, and machine design concepts.
CAD Modeling Tools: Hands-on familiarity or training in 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software. Proficiency in Creo Parametric and/or SolidWorks is highly preferred.
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T): Basic understanding of GD&T standards, engineering tolerance limits, and mechanical clearances.
Drawing Comprehension: Strong capability to read, interpret, and modify complex mechanical fabrication drawings, specifications, and component datasheets.
Soft Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English to collaborate with globally distributed multi-disciplinary teams.
