As a Network Delivery Engineer 1, you will be responsible for network provisioning, 24/7 continuous monitoring, initial troubleshooting, performance tuning, and L1 escalation handling for PhonePe’s data center networks.
Conduct network provisioning deployments and hardware routing/switching configurations.
Perform firewall management including Access Control List (ACL) policies, periodic firewall rule audits, IPSec VPN tunnels, and NAT policies.
Execute periodic patch management for core network switches, firewalls, and routing infrastructure.
Upgrade OS firmware across network devices to maintain operational stability and vulnerability management.
Plan and execute maintenance activities during scheduled business off-peak windows.
Conduct regular network performance analysis and implement bandwidth and traffic routing optimizations.
Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure and SRE teams to eliminate network bottlenecks and fine-tune latency parameters.
Develop, test, and implement automation scripts to streamline routine provisioning, configuration, and monitoring tasks.
Integrate automation tools and configuration frameworks (Ansible, Salt, Python, Shell) into network management workflows.
Serve as a primary on-call engineer in a 24×7 rotation environment to resolve complex network incidents and service outages.
Function as the primary L1 point of escalation for Network Operations and generate detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports post-incident.
Skills & Eligibility
Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology (B.E / B.Tech) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in network operations, data center routing, or network delivery engineering.
Understanding of Data Center network topologies and routing/switching protocols: BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VRRP (Knowledge of VxLAN is an added advantage).
Entry-level scripting and automation proficiency using Python, Go, or Shell scripting alongside tools like Ansible or Salt.
Fundamental knowledge of Linux operating system distributions (especially Ubuntu and RHEL) and web servers (Nginx and Apache2).
Experience working in a 24×7 on-call rotation environment with proven critical incident handling capabilities.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, leadership, and technical communication skills.
