Job Description
As a Systems Administrator Grad, you will support the SQL Server Database Administration team in day-to-day operational activities. This is a learning-focused role where you will monitor SQL Server instances to ensure database health and availability. You will respond to alerts, perform basic troubleshooting, and assist in managing backups and restores under the guidance of senior DBAs. You will also use SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to handle user access requests and maintain technical documentation.
You will be an integral part of the production support team, handling incidents and service requests within defined SLA timelines . This role requires a willingness to work in a 24×7 shift model and an interest in RDBMS concepts such as indexes, constraints, and joins. Whether you are performing routine maintenance or assisting in database patching, your goal is to ensure data integrity and system performance across non-production and production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor SQL Server instances for availability, health, and performance.
Respond to system alerts and perform initial troubleshooting for common database issues.
Assist in SQL Server backup and restore activities under senior guidance.
Manage user access requests and support routine maintenance tasks.
Perform initial issue analysis and escalate complex tickets to senior DBAs.
Handle incidents and service requests through ticketing tools within SLA timelines.
Support senior DBAs during SQL Server patching and upgrade activities.
Maintain and update runbooks and operational documentation for the DBA team.
Follow security policies, compliance guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Skills & Eligibility
Education: Bachelor’s in CS, IT, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 0–1 year (Freshers with SQL training are encouraged).
Database Skills: Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL .
SQL Knowledge: Proficiency in SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and simple JOINS.
Technical Concepts: Familiarity with RDBMS, T-SQL, and SSMS .
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and team-oriented attitude.
Shift: Must be willing to work in 24×7 rotational shifts and on-call models.
Nice to Have: SQL Server certifications or exposure to ITIL concepts.
