  • Networking fundamentals are explicitly described as a must-have for this role.
  • Candidates should understand how devices communicate across enterprise networks and should be comfortable troubleshooting connectivity problems.
  • Important concepts include:
  • TCP/IP: The foundation of network communication.
  • DNS: Converts domain names into IP addresses.
  • DHCP: Automatically provides network configuration such as IP addresses.
  • VLAN: Allows logical segmentation of networks.
  • Routing: Determines how traffic moves between different networks.
  • Switching: Connects devices within network segments.
  • VPN: Provides secure connectivity over networks.
  • Firewall: Controls and filters network traffic based on security rules.
  • A candidate should be able to reason through a common scenario such as a server becoming unreachable: first check whether the issue is local connectivity, DNS, routing, firewall rules, the host itself, or an upstream service.
  • The role has a strong automation-first component.
  • Candidates are expected to understand the basic purpose of tools such as Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ansible is commonly used for automation and configuration management.
  • Terraform is used for Infrastructure as Code, allowing infrastructure resources to be defined and managed through configuration files.
  • GitHub provides version control and collaboration capabilities, while GitHub Actions can automate workflows such as testing, deployment, and operational tasks.
  • A fresher does not need to be an expert in all of these tools, but understanding how they fit together can make the candidate significantly stronger.
