Job Description

  • As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Philips, you will be embedded within the high-performing Ultrasound R&D Team inside our Precision Diagnosis business cluster. You will work closely with senior product developers and hardware architects responsible for identifying appropriate structural technologies, subsystem layouts, and core mechanical components. This hands-on track gives you direct visibility into the rigorous design execution, optimization modeling, and component verification loops required in a complex medical imaging environment.
  • Your technical duties involve contributing to the requirements gathering, design implementation, structural testing, and integration of modular hardware components in compliance with strict medical architectural profiles. You will focus heavily on building safety, reliability, and manufacturing quality features directly into your module designs while ensuring that components meet performance, cost, and product certification parameters. Additionally, you will compose standardized technical documentation to log system tolerances, thermal bounds, and assembly sequences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, physical testing, and modular integration of ultrasound sub-systems.
  • Ensure that your hardware designs remain fully consistent with higher-level engineering requirements and specifications.
  • Build safety, device reliability, structural integrity, and premium quality metrics directly into your CAD architectures.
  • Optimize modular layouts to smoothly fulfill critical component performance, weight, and production cost criteria.
  • Compile high-quality, standardized documentation per medical system regulatory compliance models.
  • Verify mutual consistency and efficient material integration between separate physical components in a modular framework.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across hardware engineering, quality management, and testing teams at HIC Pune.
  • Participate in design review milestones and apply engineering feedback to continuously improve prototype layers.

Skills & Eligibility

  • Education: Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering or related quantitative fields.
  • Experience Level: Freshers with a solid grasp of core mechanical principles, material properties, and kinematics.
  • CAD Tools (Preferred): Exposure to modern 3D modeling and analysis tools (such as SolidWorks, Creo, or ANSYS) is highly valued.
  • Foundations: Good understanding of manufacturing practices, geometrical tolerancing (GD&T), and structural evaluation methods.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical reasoning, critical problem-solving skills, and a relentless determination to learn.
  • Communication: Clear, professional verbal and written communication habits to sync effectively across global teams.
